In a now-viral social media post, Ghanaian rapper Medikal threw his complete support behind President John Dramani Mahama, igniting discussions about continuity and leadership in Ghana.
The “Stubborn Academy” hitmaker exhorted Ghanaians to appreciate Mahama’s comeback in the tweet, calling him a “very serious guy” who ought to be kept in office over his current term.
“Make una pray make Mahama no leave power oo, very serious guy!” Medikal wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The nation has been praising President Mahama, who came back to power following a historic landslide victory in the 2024 elections.
The talk about Medikal’s leadership style, programs, and alleged national influence only gets louder with his backing.
The rapper went on to recommend two successors who, in his opinion, will carry on Mahama’s legacy of progress and patriotism once his tenure is over.
“Even if he does finish his term, he should pass it over to Ibrahim Mahama, his brother or Alan Cash. These men have serious ambitions to make Ghana a great nation, trust me,” he added.
Celebrity political endorsements are nothing new, but Medikal’s public support of Mahama—particularly his designation of Ibrahim Mahama and Alan Kyerematen, better known online as Alan Cash, as possible successors—has generated a lot of online backlash.
