Lands Ministry to probe ‘will’ of Sir John on Achimota Forest
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has taken a strong stance against some documents circulating on social media that purport to be the will of Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the late former Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission. The documents detail some of Mr Owusu Afriyie’s specific relatives who will be allotted pieces of the Achimota Forest, which has become a hot topic in recent days as a result of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuf-Executive Addo’s Instrument to declassify portions. “I give my portion of land that I jointly own at the Achimota Forest in the name of DML Limited to Elizabeth Asare Boateng who is domiciled in the United States at the time of making this will forever,” the late public official, popularly known as Sir John, stated in point g. of his will, as captured on social media. However, the Ministry has stated that it will investigate this. “The Ministry takes the allegations very seriously and has requested all documents relating to the lands in question as part of an initial inquiry to determine the veracity of the claims,” the Ministry said in a statement released on Sunday, May 22.
