Cases Against Chairman Wontumi adjourned to November 12 and December 4
The two pending lawsuits concerning Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have been postponed to November 12 and December 4, 2025.
The court postponed the first hearing until November 12 in response to claims that Wontumi permitted mining operations on his Samreboi concession without the necessary authorization. In order to provide the defense with all pertinent disclosures, the prosecution asked for more time.

Due to the presiding judge’s leave, the second case—which charges Wontumi with engaging in unauthorized mining activities within the Tano Nimire Forest Reserve—has been rescheduled for December 4.
The fourth accused, Edward Akuoko, the general manager of Wontumi’s company Akonta Mining, has had his charges dropped by the attorney general. In the current trials, Akuoko will now testify for the prosecution.
