Ghanaian actor Clement Bonney, better known by his stage as Mr. Beautiful, has disclosed the reasons for his colleague Kofi Adu’s (Agya Koo) decision to no longer support the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Agya Koo was a devoted NDC supporter and had a close friendship with the former First Lady Lordina Mahama, according to Mr. Beautiful.
He related an event that infuriated the actor, in which the cops refused to let Agya Koo visit Lordina at her home.
Speaking on Accra’s 3FM Urban Blend program, Mr. Beautiful revealed that Agya Koo was angered by this occurrence and left the NDC to back the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr. Beautiful added that while he still supports the NDC, other celebrities have ceased doing so after the party entered opposition.
“President Mahama did a lot for many celebrities, but since the NPP came into power, they changed their allegiance. Agya Koo was among them. He had a strong relationship with Mahama’s wife and even had her personal contact. However, after being denied access to Lordina by the police, he decided to switch from the NDC to the NPP.
“Lordina was unaware of Agya Koo’s visit, but he claimed the police blocked him from seeing her, which led him to stop supporting the party. You can call him to confirm this. Other celebrities have done similar things and switched to the NPP,” he narrated.
Mr. Beautiful added that while he still supports the NDC, other celebrities have ceased doing so after the party entered opposition.
