Ghanaian musician Tic Tac has criticized Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Member of Parliament, for remarks he made regarding illicit mining, or galamsey as it is known in Ghana.
Annoh-Dompreh said in a legislative meeting that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was also involved in the devastation of water bodies while in office, therefore the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government could not be held entirely responsible for the illegal mining threat.
Tic Tac responded by denouncing the NPP MP for playing the blame game rather than accepting accountability for solving the issue of illegal mining.
The performer emphasized how crucial it is that the government take action to stop galamsey and save the waterways.
“It is not about NDC or NPP, it is about Ghana now. Can’t you see the nation is bleeding? We are tired of the blame game. All we want is to save Ghana from galamsey,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The people strongly disagreed with Annoh-Dompreh’s words about galamsey, believing that they were unsuitable at a time of national emergency.
Following the Ghana Water Company Limited’s announcement that water shortages were caused by unlawful mining activities contaminating water bodies, the galamsey issue gained significant national attention.
