I want to play for Ghana with or without World Cup – Francis Amuzu
Francis Amuzu, a forward for Gremio, has stated his desire to play for the Black Stars and denied rumors that he wants to transfer allegiance to Ghana merely for the World Cup.
The 26-year-old has now openly shown interest in a potential call-up after declining the chance to play for the senior national team in 2022.
Only a few days after the Black Stars guaranteed their spot in the 2026 World Cup, he made his declaration.
“I was born in Ghana, so I’m happy that they qualified for the World Cup. It’s a wonderful tournament also to play,” said Amuzu, a statement that has seen many label him as an “opportunist.”

However, the attacker is open to invitations before or after the global tournament.
“If it’s for the World Cup, it will be nice,” he told Asempa FM.
“If it’s after the World Cup, it’s also nice, I will be happy. It is a dream for me to play for the national team Ghana.
“I know also that I have to perform well to get a call-up. If it [call-up] comes, good. If it doesn’t come, I have to work harder.”
