Fire destroys Kantamanto Tazani Lane
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully extinguished a huge fire that broke out on Kantamanto Tazani Lane near Ecobank in Accra early Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
The GNFS received a distress call at 1:31 a.m., and the first fire appliance arrived 11 minutes later, at 1:42 a.m. Seven fire engines and a turntable ladder were dispatched from the Circle, Industrial Area, Accra Regional Headquarters, Madina, and Legon fire stations, with two extra appliances from the National Headquarters.

The fire, which destroyed many commercial buildings, was extinguished at 4:49 a.m. after nearly three hours of intense firefighting.
Acting Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, along with the Director of Operations, Greater Accra Regional Commander, and other senior officers, went to the location to assess the situation and provide operational support.
As of now, no injuries have been reported, and firefighting activities are ongoing to ensure the blaze is entirely extinguished.
Investigations are likely to reveal the cause of the fire.
