2026 World Cup Qualification: Okudzeto Ablakwa promises visa support for fans
Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has congratulated the Black Stars on their convincing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, vowing to make travel easy for Ghanaian supporters who want to support the team overseas.
In a Facebook post, Ablakwa congratulated the national team and declared that the Foreign Ministry would use Ghana’s strong diplomatic ties with the World Cup host countries to acquire visas for supporters.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on Ghana’s emphatic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification. Ghanaians can be fully assured that the Foreign Ministry under my leadership shall leverage our improved cordial diplomatic relations with the United States, Canada and Mexico to guarantee appreciable visa quotas for our globally acclaimed football fans,” he wrote. “GHANA, here we come.”
At the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana defeated Comoros 1-0 to guarantee their qualification.
Mohammed Kudus calmly converted a brilliant assist from captain Thomas Partey in the 47th minute to give the home crowd a raucous celebration.
With the victory, Ghana joins Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Algeria as the sixth African country to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup. Ghana’s rise on the continental football scene is further highlighted by the fact that they are the first West African nation to qualify for the tournament.
