Professor Kofi Agyekum, the head of linguistics at the University of Ghana, has counseled Ghanaians to keep their emotions out of the forthcoming elections.
Prof. Kofi Agyekum, also known as “Opanyin Agyekum,” gave a sermon on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, stating that regardless of the election’s outcome, a group of people will either be joyful or sad thereafter.
Therefore, he warned the populace not to let the election’s outcome negatively impact their lives or health by letting it emotionally impact them.
“Do not take the election to heart to avoid heartbreaks and falling sick”, he stated.
Opanyin Agyekum also urged all electorates to go to the polls and cast their votes stressing “if you don’t go to vote, someone will elect a leader you may not like to rule over you as well”.
He further encouraged all and sundry to exercise their franchise also because “a vote counts in the election of the next President of the country”.
