Truck Driver Gets 6-Month Jail Term For Abandoning Vehicle On Rail Line
A 41-year-old truck driver who abandoned his car on the Tema-Mpakadan rail line has been sentenced to six months in jail by the Juapong Circuit Court.
Before the court chaired by Judge Prosper Deu-Love Gormashie, Abel Dzidotor entered a guilty plea to three counts of reckless and inconsiderate driving, illegal stopping, and unlawful damage. As a result, he was found guilty.
He received a fine of GH₵1,200 for driving with carelessness and disregard. He faces a 20-month jail sentence if he doesn’t pay.
Unauthorized halting was punishable by a fine of GH₵240 or five months in jail, while unlawful damage was punishable by six months in hard labor. The sentences must be read aloud in succession.
The matter will now be heard on May 9, 2024.
