The actions of some members of his church who attacked a reporter from EIB Network after court proceedings on Thursday, October 17, have been denounced by Bishop Salifu Amoako, father of the 16-year-old boy involved in the tragic accident that killed two young girls at East Legon on Saturday, October 12, in the Greater Accra Region.
On Sunday, October 20, Bishop Amoako addressed his congregation at Alive Chapel International, expressing his sincere apologies for the incident and emphasizing the value of restraint and compassion in trying times.
He reminded his followers to take into account all viewpoints regarding the unfortunate incident and urged them to act compassionately and refrain from starting new disputes.
“ACI family, control yourselves,” Bishop Amoako urged. “You came to the court and disgraced me. What you did was unwise and has only added to the battles I am already facing. It was a shameful act, and it should never have happened.”
The Bishop emphasized that the court is a place to seek justice, not to create chaos.
“The case is now in court. We don’t go to court to fight but to interpret the law. Some of you were lucky you weren’t arrested. By now, you should be in jail for what you did.”
He made it plain in his speech that he had not requested that his church members step in to help him. He reaffirmed, “I have not called you to come and fight for me,” and urged his audience to let the legal system handle the situation.
