Police arrest truck driver over new train acc!dent
The driver of a Hyundai truck with the license plate GS 9018-20 has been detained by the Ghana Police Service on suspicion of causing an accident involving a recently imported train on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line.
On Thursday, April 18, 2024, when the train was being tested, an accident involving the just imported train from Poland occurred.
The Police said in a statement that the results of their early investigation showed that the suspect driver had left the vehicle unattended on the railroad track, which had caused it to collide with the train.
“Police investigation into the incident continues.”
According to reports, the truck driver was delivering cement blocks when the vehicle became caught on the rail, possibly due to his inability to use the pass-through under the bridge.
Engineers are trying to repair the train, according to Peter Amewu, Minister of Railways Development.
