The Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Teachers, which includes graduates from colleges of education and universities, held a protest in Accra to demand payment of long-overdue salary arrears.
According to the association, some of its members have gone unpaid for up to 13 months, while being formally deployed and teaching across the country.
On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the protest got underway in the Obra Spot, which is close to Kwame Nkrumah Circle. Before assembling at the Ministry of Finance to make their demands known, the teachers marched in the direction of Jubilee House and the Ministry of Education.
The group said the protest is intended to force government agencies to issue the personnel ID cards required to process their salaries and to immediately discharge their arrears.
The group’s leaders characterized the circumstances as unjust and discouraging, admonishing that they will persist in their actions until their issues are completely resolved.
