Socrate Safo, a seasoned Ghanaian filmmaker and supporter of the creative arts, has thrown his weight behind artists who support the National Democratic Congress (NDC), advocating for cooperation and solidarity throughout the industry regardless of political allegiance.
In an interview with Kwame Dadzie of Joy FM, Socrate Safo disclosed that he had extended offers to important industry players to share ideas and promote a range of projects that would expand the creative arts sector.
“I am happy for the creatives in the NDC. Let’s support them. I support them,” he said.
The outspoken filmmaker also revealed that he personally reached out to Rex Omar, the Chairman of GHAMRO and a seasoned musician, to convey his desire to participate in the recently launched “Blackstar Experience,” a cultural project by creatives affiliated with the NDC.
“I called Rex Omar and asked why he didn’t invite me to the launch of the Blackstar Experience—because I want to help in any way, with ideas,” Safo explained.
In a further indication of his ongoing dedication to the film industry, Socrate Safo revealed that he had contacted actress and producer Kafui Danku, the recently appointed Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), to share his thoughts and suggestions for advancing the organization.
