Hearts of Oak fans call for the sack of coach Aboubakar Ouattara after losing to Basake Holy Stars
After Hearts of Oak’s 2024–25 Ghana Premier League season opener loss to newcomers Basake Holy Stars, the team’s supporters turned against head coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
On Sunday, the Phobians hosted the team making their debut at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Prince Tweneboah’s header in the second minute gave Basake Holy Stars the advantage despite Hearts of Oak having home field advantage.
Exasperated supporters expressed their outrage over what they perceived to be a poor performance after the final whistle, with many advocating Ouattara’s dismissal.
One game into the new season, the coach—who took over on a two-year contract midway through the previous one—is already under increasing pressure.
Supporters worry that if their team can’t prevail over a recently promoted team, they might have trouble playing more seasoned teams, like their bitter rivals Asante Kotoko.
