Just hours after the nationwide voting process started, President Nana Akufo-Addo cast his ballot at his hometown of Kyebi, which is located in the Eastern Region’s East Akim constituency.
His wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, also participated in the exercise. “I have voted, the process was excellent, very smooth, very simple,” the president said.
“Above all, the reports coming in from across the country suggest this election is going very well and it is being conducted peacefully,” he said, characterizing this year’s poll as “very efficient.”
The president commended the people for acting in a democratic manner. He told reporters after casting his ballot, “Ghanaians are demonstrating their commitment to democratic outcomes, and we all have to be thankful to God for that.”
“Those of you who are yet to vote, please go out and vote,” he said, urging everyone to do so because every vote matters in the decision-making process. Your voice matters, and every vote counts.
Mr. Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that the election would be successful and that the majority of Ghanaians would accept the decision.
“We want to have a situation where, at the end of the day, the majority of Ghanaians are satisfied with the outcome.”
