Bagbin to swear in Akwatia, Tamale Central MPs
The members of parliament for Akwatia and Tamale Central, Professor Alidu Seidu and Bernard Bediako Baidoo, are scheduled to be sworn in today by Speaker of the House of Representatives Alban Bagbin.
After the death of the late Ernest Yaw Kumi, Bernard Bediako Baidoo won the by-election in Akwatia with 18,199 votes.

The late Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who died in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, was replaced by Professor Alidu Seidu, who emerged as the only contender and was proclaimed the winner of the by-election in Tamale Central.
During today’s legislative session, the two recently elected lawmakers—both of whom represent the National Democratic Congress (NDC)—are anticipated to take the oath of office.
