Ameyaw-Akumfi pleads not guilty to financial loss accusations
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, the former board chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), entered a not guilty plea to allegations of conspiracy to conduct crime, deliberate dissipation of public funds, and willful financial damage to the state.
After missing two prior court appearances due to alleged medical emergencies, his plea was accepted on Monday, May 26.
Solomon Asamoah, a former CEO of the GIIF, and Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi are on trial for the contentious transfer of $2 million in public monies into an Africa Investor Holdings private account.

According to reports, the monies were transferred without the required authorization or due diligence for the building of a proposed Sky Train project.
According to the prosecution, the state suffered a large financial loss as a result of the transaction, which took place during their term and was completed without adhering to the required legal and administrative procedures.
As the trial goes on, the accused parties are anticipated to present a complete defense and deny any wrongdoing.
