A total of GHS 462 million has been distributed to fund the training allowances of 120,000 nursing students nationwide, according to confirmation from the Ministry of Health.
This six-month payment is a component of the government’s larger effort to give nursing training college students financial assistance.
The allowance, which was a major pledge made by President John Dramani Mahama during the most recent electioneering campaign, has finally been paid, the Ministry said in a statement obtained by Citi News on Thursday, July 17.
“The Ministry views this development as a significant step in improving the welfare of nursing trainees and sustaining the motivation of future health professionals. It further aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector by ensuring that critical human resources receive the needed support throughout their training.”
“The Ministry extends its appreciation to the president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his promise to the nurses, as well as all other stakeholders involved in facilitating the timely release and distribution of the funds.”
In order to guarantee the continuous provision of high-quality healthcare education throughout the nation, the Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating closely with nursing schools.
