The Defense Ministry’s chief, Dr. Omane Boamah, claims that the new administration has demonstrated its resolve to combat illicit mining.
He underlined that rather than being renowned for talk shops, they would want to concentrate on fulfilling their job.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Omane Boamah expressed this stance, saying that the current government is dedicated to protecting the nation’s forests and waterways, in contrast to the New Patriotic Party government, which gave up on the fight against illicit mining.
“The NPP government’s withdrawal of military force from anti-galamsey operations is a cardinal sin against humanity. The good news is, under the directive of President John Dramani Mahama the soldiers are back to fight galamsey.
We have saved 7 forest reserves so far. We will talk less and let action speak! We’re also using the Chasis numbers of the vehicles being used for galamsey to trace the true owners of such deadly environmentally unfriendly equipment,” he said.
Following the change of government, the battle against galamsey has taken a significant turn.
There are numerous reports claiming that members of the NDC have chosen to engage in illegal mining and desecrate the nation’s forests since the party seized power.
