Following their failure to appear in court, the High Court in Accra on Friday, October 17, 2025, postponed hearings in the charges against former National Service Authority (NSA) Director-General Osei Asibey Antwi and his deputy Gifty Oware-Mensah.
When Mr. Antwi’s attorney arrived in court on Thursday, he indicated that his client had been instructed to report to Kumasi police detectives and was presently doing so.
The attorney, who was wearing African print, also told the court that the charge sheet had not yet been sent to the defense team.
After this discovery, the court mandated that the accused be formally served with the charge sheet and hearing notices prior to the issue being recalled for hearing.
In a related move, the court postponed the hearing against former NSA Deputy Executive Director Gifty Oware-Mensah after learning that she had filed a two-day medical excusing duty. Next week, the issue is anticipated to be reviewed.
Investigations into purported financial and administrative problems at the National Service Authority are connected to both incidents.
These events are part of a larger corruption case in which the state claims that fraudulent acts cost about GH¢653 million.
