NDC, Joana Gyan Cudjoe sue EC over election disqualification in Amenfi Central parliamentary race
In response to Mrs. Cudjoe’s exclusion from the December 7, 2024, parliamentary election, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its parliamentary nominee for the Amenfi Central Constituency in the Western North Region, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, have filed a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC).
In accordance with Order 25 Rule 1 of C.I. 47, the plaintiffs have also submitted a notice-based request for an order of interlocutory injunction.
This indicates that they seek an injunction to prevent the Electoral Commission from printing the Notice of Poll and the ballots for the Amenfi Central Parliamentary Election until the substantive issue has been resolved.
The motion was submitted on Thursday, October 17, 2024, one day after it became known that Joana Gyan Cudjoe had been notified by the EC in a letter dated October 10, 2024, that she was no longer eligible to run for parliament.
