The Manhyia Palace has declared a moratorium on all funerals in Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to allow the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman to attend the one-week commemoration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, officially announced the Asantehemaa’s departure on August 11 in the Manhyia Palace during an obligatory Asanteman Council meeting attended by all paramountcies and clans.
In a statement made on Tuesday, August 12, the Palace stated that the commemoration will be held in Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace, from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m., with all funerals suspended for the day in respect of the late queen mother.
“The One Week Celebration will be observed on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. Manhyia Palace announces for the information of the general public that there will be a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to allow Asantehene and Asanteman to observe the One Week Celebration of Asantehemaa.”
At the age of 98, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III departed from this life on Thursday, August 7, 2025. After her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem III, passed away in 2016 at the age of 111, she took the throne on February 6, 2017.
