The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has purportedly apprehended Kofi Akpaloo, presidential candidate and head of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
Family members verified the arrest, but the reasons for his confinement remain unknown. They revealed that Mr Akpaloo was removed from his residence in Kumasi and that his current whereabouts are unknown.
EOCO has yet to publish an official statement, keeping the circumstances of the arrest unclear.
Mr Akpaloo, who ran in the 2024 general elections, is a well-known figure in Ghana’s political scene. He has campaigned on policies that appeal to young voters, and despite its tiny size, his party has slowly increased its presence in national politics.
