Former President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been endorsed by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Member of Parliament for Ofoase/Ayirebi, as the best prepared and extensively promoted flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), with the potential to guide the party to victory in the general election of 2028.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah reiterated his steadfast support for Dr. Bawumia in an interview with Citi News on Thursday, August 28, prior to his submitting nomination forms to run for the NPP flagbearership.
He maintained that Dr. Bawumia embodies the conservative principles of the NPP and has the attributes required to win the party’s support.
“The whole essence of a political party is to mobilise numbers to win power so that you can inculcate your ideas into government. Today, there is one person who has come so clean.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the most prepared candidate, most marketed across the country and most prepared in terms of his track record and pedigree to ensure that we can win 2028 and govern in 2029.
“He also embodies the character values that this conservative party looks out for, his humility, emotional intelligence and ability to bring people together,” he stated.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah further emphasized that, having previously been heavily promoted during the general election of 2024, Dr. Bawumia continues to be the NPP’s strongest candidate.
