Abena Osei Asare, the Atiwa East member of parliament, has stated that the current administration is operating dishonestly.
According to her, the Ghanaian people realized they were duped just a few months after the John Dramani Mahama regime lied their way to power.
Speaking at the campaign launch for the Akwatia constituency on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the former deputy minister said that the people of Akwatia must support the party in order for them to regain the seat, increase their number in parliament, and better expose the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“It’s been six months in office, and the people of Ghana have realised that the NDC deceived them. They are governing with deception, and we need to expose their lies. We can be better placed by winning the Akwatia seat to expose their deception. We don’t want our number to reduce from 88 so please go out and vote for the NPP,” she said at the campaign launch.
She continued, “people are here who didn’t vote in the 2024 elections because they were angry; there are people who didn’t vote because they are at loggerheads with someone, but I plead with you guys to go out and vote. Let’s take everyone along so that we can win the seat because Ghanaians have hope in us and believe that we can better their lot”.
The former state minister went on to say that a victory for the New Patriotic Party in Akwatia would be a victory for the late Ernest Kumi, who gave his life to restore the seat to the NPP.
“Let’s vote for Asumadu to honour Ernest Kumi. He did so well and was growing in Parliament before his demise. It was refreshing to listen to him speak in Parliament, so if we don’t have anything to honour him, let’s honour him with our votes,” she appealed.
