Ghana open and ready for business 24/7 – Mahama to investors
President John Dramani Mahama has informed international investors that Ghana is available for business around the clock.
Speaking to government leaders and business executives at the 8th Africa-Singapore Business Forum on Tuesday, August 26, he stated that Ghana’s economic policy prioritizes productivity, exports, and job creation.
“Our economic strategy is anchored in productivity, exports, and jobs. We call it the 24-hour economy for a reason. Ghana is open for business 24 hours a day,” President Mahama said.
He clarified that in order to assist companies that wish to run day and night, such as factories, farms, sports facilities, and service centers, the government is setting up infrastructure, incentives, and skill development.

The Volta Economic Corridor, which the president referred to as Ghana’s most ambitious economic plan to date, is a crucial component of the strategy. Four pillars support it:
- Irrigating more than two million hectares for year-round farming.
- Setting up agro-industrial parks for textiles, pharmaceuticals, and food processing.
- Boosting tourism and hospitality along Lake Volta.
- Transforming Lake Volta into a transport spine to reduce logistics costs and connect factories to markets.
Major initiatives like the Legon Pharmaceutical Innovation Park, the Kumasi Machinery and Technology Park, the Akosombo and Juapong Garments and Textiles Park, the Digital TVET Centers of Excellence, and the Renewable Corridors, according to President Mahama, are supporting these.
