GES announces mid-term break for basic schools
All basic schools in the country will take a midterm holiday from Friday, October 31, to Monday, November 3, 2025, according to a statement released by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Both professors and students will not have lessons on these days, which are already included in the academic calendar, according to a statement released by GES Public Relations Officer Daniel Fenyi.
“Basic schools will, for the first time, observe a mid-term break on Friday, October 31, and Monday, November 3, as already captured on the academic calendar,” the statement said.

GES explained that the short break is intended to give teachers and pupils time to rest and recharge for the remainder of the term.

All public and private basic schools run by the Ghana Education Service are subject to the order.
