Today, July 22, 2025, Ewurabena Aubynn will formally take the oath of office as Ablekuma North’s member of parliament.

Her entrance comes after she narrowly defeated Akua Afriyie of the NPP with 34,090 votes in the most recent parliamentary rerun.
Due to anomalies and invalid pink sheets from 19 polling places, the Electoral Commission declared the December 2024 results invalid, necessitating the rerun.
The National Democratic Congress now has a two-thirds majority in Parliament thanks to Aubynn’s admission, strengthening its hold on important national choices and legislative procedures.
Her win is viewed as a significant increase in the NDC’s parliamentary power as it enters a crucial stage of government.
