Interior Minister, Henry Quartey has stated that the government is entirely dedicated to ensuring that the upcoming December 7 polls are free, fair, and transparent.
In an interview with media in Accra, Henry Quartey emphasized the government’s determination to maintain Ghana’s democratic credentials.
He expressed confidence that Ghana’s image as a stable democracy will be untarnished before and after the election.
According to the Interior Minister, the administration is not only concerned with supporting a smooth electoral process, but also with ensuring the nation’s peace and security during the approaching elections.
He also stated that the administration is prepared to counter any attempts by political parties or individuals to disrupt the calm or generate unrest during the elections.
“As an Interior Minister, upon the instructions of President [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo], we are saying that we will ensure that these elections will be free, fair and transparent.
“And there shall be a peaceful transition of power. However, we will not sit and allow people to take the law into their own hands.”
