Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, a former general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a top campaign advisor to NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has declared that this year’s presidential elections will not have a runoff.
He predicts a 53 percent victory for the vice president in the first round of voting.
Speaking on Okay FM’s “Ade Akye Abia” show, he clarified that the NPP government has demonstrated over time that they had the skills and knowledge necessary to lead the nation. Ghana needs a leader with the appropriate character to lead and improve the country.
“Dr. Bawumia is a compassionate leader. His burning desire to serve the people of Ghana is incomparable. I decided to lend my support as he embarks on his campaign not because of his humility because that is already in public knowledge. I joined Dr. Bawumia because we have observed that he is not materialistic and he is not envious of anyone.”
“We need character for leadership in our country; and by character, I mean good character. Character is a necessity in our country today. We need someone who is respectful, has much love for his people and will go the extent of uniting his presidential primary opponents,” he said.
After evaluating Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities and his plans for the nation’s growth, he continued, saying he was confident Ghanaians would vote in large numbers for him and that a second round of elections would not be necessary.
