Being a student of University of Ghana is a dream come true – Guru
Ghanaian rapper, Guru, has been candid about his admiration for the University of Ghana, where he is currently enrolled.
In an interview with Joy Prime, Guru—real name Maradona Yeboah Adjei—talked about how enrolling there had fulfilled a goal of his.
He talked about how he was involved in campus life, helping to plan activities with the Student Representative Council (SRC) and making a successful appearance by Mister Drew during Hall Week.
“The University of Ghana has always been my dream and being there feels like a dream come true. So I was willing to do everything for them.
“My first year, I was helping and sponsoring some of the Hall Week celebrations and I was collaborating with the SRC to help organise Evandy Hall Week celebrations. I was able to bring Mister Drew and it worked so well,” he said.
Speaking about what motivated him to enroll in college, the “Lapaz Toyota” hitmaker said that his mother’s support and the boredom brought on by the epidemic were the main reasons he decided to return to school.
He said that after enrolling in an information technology bachelor’s program, he changed his major to political science and information studies. He went on to say that he hoped to collaborate with the UN and use his expertise on a worldwide basis.
“After COVID, I was bored. So I said, “Okay, let me jump into academics because my mom loves academics so much she wants me to complete my degree and I jumped on the University of Ghana, basically to study a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and I later switched to studying political science and information studies and to put it into practice, I really want to work with the UN,” he said.
