President Akufo-Addo announced on April 19, 2020, during his seventh update to Ghanaians about the coronavirus disease that the three weeks old ban imposed on the movement of people in some key areas has been lifted.
After the announcement, there seems to be some social media meltdown, especially the Ghanaian Twitter space because many Ghanaians have been reacting to the news.
While some people especially Samuel Attah-Mensah, manager of Citi FM, feel that it is the best decision the president has taken, many others firmly believe that it is a very terrible decision, especially when one takes into account the fact that Ghana’s case count has increased to 1,042.
According to Samuel Attah-Mensah, manager of Citi FM, if you think Nana Addo shouldn’t lift the lockdown, why don’t you stay in your homes since he (the president) isn’t forcing anyone to come out of their homes.
“The President only lifted the Lockdown based on the scientific information available to him. If you disagree with him why don’t you continue your personal Lockdown? Or he’s instructed you to come out of your home by force? We have only one President of Ghana.”, posted on Twitter.
