The National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has verified rumors that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, will announce his running mate in the next two months.

Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Nana Boakye said that it is long overdue for the Running Mate to be unveiled.

Names like Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former Church of Pentecost Chairman Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, departing Education Minister Dr. Yaw Adutwum, and Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency Mr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu have surfaced as possible candidates for the Running Mate position, while the country waits to find out who will fill it.

Why Dr. Bawumia hasn’t named his running mate – Nana B explains

It is quite likely that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, will be chosen for the role.

As per the NPP constitution, the Vice President ought to have announced his running companion long ago, but it’s still not too late, according to Nana Boakye, often known as “Nana B”.

He clarified that in order to have time for deliberations and come to the best choice, Dr. Bawumia requested permission from the party’s leadership.

He expressed optimism that the Veep would reveal his running mate’s identity to the party hierarchy as soon as feasible.

“If any person says His Excellency the Vice President, the leader of the party, the next president will soon unveil his running mate, again, it is also expected. He should have made the announcement a long time ago, but he pleaded for time to engage in consultation, and the party also agreed with him as this is not a decision to make in haste. So, if he says he wants to do a broader consultation, we agreed with him and gave him such a period,” he said.
