Bridget Otoo goes hard on Akufo-Addo over ‘I don’t drink alcohol’ comment
Bridget Otoo, a well-known media figure, has attacked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for acknowledging that he drinks.
At one point in the February 27, 2024, State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament, the president addressed alcohol in the face of jeers from the minority.
The president asked for a glass of water as his continuous coughing interrupted his remarks for a time. He playedfully told the crowd that he had been offered water and nothing else after accepting it.
“I don’t drink alcohol. Everybody who knows me knows that I don’t drink alcohol,” he said.
But no one of a higher social standing would make such a public allegation, according to Bridget Otoo.
Bridget Otoo criticized Akufo-Addo for the suffering he and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have caused Ghanaians, leaving the majority of people furious about the status of the economy.
“I’ve never heard a sober person say ‘I’m not drunk’. Is it that the president has a drug problem and wants to divert our attention elsewhere? Because how can you convince me that the hardships he & Bawumia have put us through were done while being sober?” she quizzed on her X page.
In compliance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which states that the president must address the legislature with a statement on the state of the nation at the start of each session and before to the legislature’s dissolution, Akufo-Addo gave the SONA.
