The Burniton Music Group signed artist Kelvynboy has thrown a subtle jab at Rufftown Records signed female artist Wendy Shay claiming she is not relevant in the music industry yet as compared to him.
Speaking on an interview session on Accra based Accra Fm 100.5 on the show Ayekoo Ayekoo between the hours of 10am to 12noon with the host as Nana Romeo, the young talented Reggae Dancehall artist who is yet to release an Ep claims Wendy Shay is no where her level.
When queried about how he felt when Wendy Shay was announced to be the winner of the 20th edition of the V.G.M.A for the category “New artist of the Year”, he replied that he had no personal feelings about that.
“I was present at the event and i was sitting next to Wendy Shay. When she was called on as the winner i clapped and i was excited for her. For me Kelvynboy it isnt a hit song or an award that will make me relevant in the industry. There are so many people who know me but when you ask them to show you one of my songs in their playlist you wouldn’t get. But when we talking about artist who have 4 to 5 hits songs my name will be mentioned. That should tell you that Wendy Shay needs more of the award and the hit songs to stag relevant unlike me who can decide to do only music without a focus on the awards and still remain relevant. But i will sing and stay relevant”. He claimed.
