We are ready for you but………..– Police to Minority
The Minority is urging the caucus to alter its routes despite the Ghana Police Service’s Accra Regional Command’s guarantee that its personnel will be prepared to provide security to the Minority for its demonstration on Tuesday, September 5.
A modification in routes, according to the Command, will benefit public safety, public order, and the smooth operation of important services.
At a discussion with the Command on August 23 regarding the demonstration, this request was made to the Minority leadership.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) are planning to attack the Bank of Ghana (BoG) headquarters in an effort to get the governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, both of his deputy governors, and the bank’s board to quit.

“Following the security assessment, on 23rd August, 2023, the Command engaged the organisers and assured them that the Police are ready to provide them the needed security to exercise their constitutional right to demonstrate,” the Accra Regional Command said in a news release issued by Head of the Public Affairs Unit SP Juliana Obeng.
“However, Police drew their attention to the fact that using their selected routes may endanger public order and public safety among others.
“We, therefore, requested the organisers to relocate the routes and destination of picketing in the interest of public order, public safety and running of essential services.
“The Police are waiting to hear from the organizers to enable us provide them the necessary security during the protest.”
When the Minority leadership will respond to the police on a march route agreement is unknown.
However, the police have pledged to continue carrying out their duties in order to strengthen the nation’s democracy.
