Walewale residents defy rains to welcome Bawumia

Residents of Walewale, in the North East area, braved Monday’s early showers to enthusiastically support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

As part of his countrywide journey, the NPP flagbearer touched down in his hometown to start a campaign tour.

Upon arriving in Nasia, a town located before his hometown of Walewale, a large number of individuals, spanning all ages, braved the rain to congregate around his campaign bus.

Dr. Bawumia was carried in a procession by the jubilant audience, many of whom were riding motorbikes, as he traveled to Nalerigu, the regional capital.

When the NPP flagbearer arrived at Walewale, the gathering grew denser and the pace of movement slowed.

Dr. Bawumia then went in the rain with the group of people on foot down the main Walewale-Bolga road.

The crowd’s enthusiasm increased as Dr. Bawumia traveled through the town; more people, both young and elderly, on foot, in tricycles, and on motorcycles, appeared out of every corner, cheering him on and singing his name.

The North East Region itinerary for Dr. Bawumia is full because he is scheduled to meet with the Nayiri, the Overlord of Mamprugu.

Dr. Bawumia is also anticipated to have talks with the clergy, imams, and the North East Regional House of Chiefs, as has been a custom on his regional travels.

As he does at every place he travels, he will also participate in an interactive session with the youth.
