The two who are still alive are Kelvin Marfo, a private security guard at the 5th Hour Mining Company in Akyem Akwatia, and L.C.O. Richard Okyere, an immigration officer at the Ministry of Interior.

According to the prosecution, Richard Okyere, the immigration officer, planned the heist using a Mitsubishi L200 with registration number GS-1116-11.

Two Jubilee House soldiers, immigration officer for alleged robbery

He picked up two military officers at the Jubilee House on November 10, 2023, then went to Pokuase to pick up two more, and in Asamankese, he picked up the final suspect before making his way to Akyem Akanteng.

On November 11, 2023, at three in the morning, the suspects—who were dressed in military uniforms and brandishing military rifles—broke into the 55-year-old complainant, Ofori Samuel, a cocoa buying clerk, and demanded GH¢100,000.00, threatening to use physical force to get it.

When confronted with the guns, the terrified complainant offered 10,000 cash instead of the requested amount, stating that he could obtain the money by selling a 5-gram gold mine that he had that was worth GH¢29,000.

After accepting the offer, the suspects shoved the complainant inside, stole the gold, and ran away. The complainant informed the Osenase police officer and the Akwatia Police Commander about the event right away.

At the Osenase police checkpoint, the suspects were captured, and during their search, two military weapons, four magazines, 62 rounds of live ammo, and a helmet were found.

The first accused turned over the five pounds of gold ore, which the complainant claimed was taken, during questioning. The gold ore and case docket were sent over to the Kibi Regional CID for additional investigation.

The Eastern South Regional Headquarters has seized the Mitsubishi L200 that was purportedly utilized in the criminal incident.

The accused individuals are charged with robbery and conspiracy to conduct crime. The prosecution, represented by Assistant State Attorney Micdad Iddrisu, pleaded with the court, presided over by Matilda Ribeiro, to help with continuing police investigations, and as a result, the suspects were remanded to appear again on November 28, 2023.
