Opoku Onyinah downplays VEEP position rumours

Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees supervising the contentious National Cathedral project, has corrected his previous Facebook post, saying that “it has nothing to do with what is going on.”

In the lead-up to the December 2024 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate, has been linked to the previous chairman of the Church of Pentecost.

Opoku Onyinah downplays VEEP position rumours

The esteemed religious figure stated in a Facebook post yesterday [February 10, 2024] that the Lord made him for a purpose and that he will not conceal his gifts.

“The Lord has a reason for creating me. Burying my talent and making it redundant is doing a disservice to my family, church, nation, and world,’ he wrote, adding that “if I fail to speak, to work, to contribute, I allow the ‘bad’ minority to rule and dictate. Often, the silence of the majority or a good one helps the noisy minority destroy society or even rule. (From my script on Words of Wisdom).”

Various interpretations of the message indicate that the Man of God is solidifying his foundation for the upcoming task. Many thought there was a political undertone to the well-respected preacher’s post.

Meanwhile, Apostle Onyinah clarified his previous message today, February 11, in a different Facebook post.

He mentioned that the idea behind the article came from the 2015 theme of the Church of Pentecost.

“Very interesting. I coined my last post when we (The Church of Pentecost) adopted the theme, “Being a Good Steward of God in My Generation” in 2015,” Apostle Onyinah wrote.

He further noted that while attempts to look for one of his many quotes to share were unsuccessful, he stumbled upon this one, which touched his heart as a preacher, and he decided to repost it again.

According to him, the post “has many lessons.”

“Last night, I was looking for a quote that touched my heart on preaching to post it. As I could not find it and stumbled on this, I posted it.

“It has nothing to do with what is going on. Perhaps it has come at the wrong time. Timing is important. I still “keep my head” and place Christ first in whatever I do,” he emphasised.

Aside from Apostle Opuku Onyinah, other names such as Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia South, Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, and the MP for Ablekuman West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, have come up for consideration by the NPP leader.

Also, Chief of Staff Madam Frema Osei Opare, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Joseph Osei Owusu (Joe Wise), and Education Minister and MP for Bosomtwe, Hon Yaw Osei Adutwum, have all been tipped for the second-top position of the land.

Meanwhile, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NPP has agreed to the request for an extension by the flagbearer, Dr Bawumia, to name his running mate.

It also agreed that the running mate for Dr Bawumia should come from the Ashanti region, the party’s stronghold.

As various possible candidates subtly position themselves for the role, 3news.com will keep an eye on all developments from the various quarters to update our audience accordingly.
