Preliminary investigations have revealed that the 29-year-old ‘pregnant’ woman who went missing in Takoradi on September 16 and was reportedly found at Axim in the Nzema East Municipality was never pregnant and there was no kidnapping, MyNewsGh.com reports.
The victim now turned suspect, Josephine Simons allegedly went on a morning walk from the Amanoo road to the Paa Grant Roundabout as part of her routine exercise on that Thursday and did not return.
A search party was convened after her mother received a call from an unknown person who said they could not use her for what they intended.
But preliminary investigation and examination confirmed by the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah suggests she was neither pregnant nor kidnapped. Doctors examined her and confirmed there was no pregnancy while National Investigative Bureau Officials say their preliminary investigations show there was no kidnapping.
If at all, the suspect, Josephine might have faked her own kidnapping.
She was found near the Jehovah Witness Church building at Axim where she is believed to have been dumped there by her alleged captors.
The woman who seemed traumatized and could not speak wrote on a sheet of paper that she gave birth at unknown place where the kidnappers took her and had taken away the baby.
When contacted, the police in the Western Regional capital of Sekondi-Takoradi indicated they are yet to confirm the identity of the said lady.
