Richard Frimpong, who was driving the automobile that crashed into the river Boti on the Akyem Oda-Nkwanta road in the Eastern Region, has been officially pronounced dead.
On June 25, 2022, a Saturday, the incident took place.
According to Felix Kwakye Yeboah, a local journalist, the deceased was driving a Benz saloon car from Akyem Ntronang to Akyem Oda after visiting his family when the vehicle abruptly veered off the road and crashed into the river. The deceased was reportedly the second-in-command for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Akyem Oda Division.
Several locals were on the site right once in an effort to save him.
He was retrieved unconscious.
He was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he remained unresponsive. He was rushed to the emergency ward of the Akyem Oda Government Hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival .
Efforts are ongoing to reach the family and GRA officials .
The cause of the accident is unknown.
