Kennedy Agyapong, a member of parliament for Assin Central, and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a strong contender in the battle for the position of NPP flagbearer, crossed paths at the party’s national headquarters.
Unlike previous times when they had disagreements on their separate campaign platforms, the encounter between the two candidates resulted in a period of amicable and cordial exchange.
The two are seen pausing to shake hands in a video that citinewsroom posted on X (previously Twitter), and then they both burst out laughing.
Both sides have made charges and denials of other allegations prior to this meeting.
The most recent of these allegations was made by MP Kennedy Agyapong, who said that influential NPP figures had given him over $800 million in exchange for his resignation in favor of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Bawumia camp responded quickly, disputing the allegations and pressing Kennedy Agyapong to reveal the identities of those who approached him with this proposal.
The National Delegates Conference is scheduled for November 4, 2023, and the delegates will have the opportunity to choose the party’s leader for the general elections of 2024. On Thursday, November 2, 2023, the New Patriotic Party will hold a press conference to provide the public with an update on the party’s progress and plans.
