See what happened when Akufo-Addo met Alan at Theresa Kufuor’s one-week event
During the one-week commemoration of the late Theresa Kufour, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyeremanten ignored one other.
The President and the newly founded Movement for Change’s 2024 independent presidential candidate declined to recognize each other’s presence during the event, which took place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Peduase Lodge in the Eastern region.
The frightening scene was witnessed by Angel TV journalist Nana Yaa Brefo, who noted “President Akufo-Addo and Alan Kyeremanten are both leaving Theresa Kufuor’s one-week observation ceremony without exchanging pleasantries.”

Although the surprise gestures of these major political leaders are unclear, some commentators have attributed the snub to Mr Kyeremanten’s recent decision to leave the NPP and join his Movement for Change ahead of the 2024 elections.
Interestingly, there was a lovely moment when Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and Mr. Kyerematen exchanged pleasantries.
The Vice President, accompanied by his wife Samira Bawumia, shook hands with Alan before patting each other on the back.
The statesmen were among those who gathered to ex-President Peduase’s Peduase house to mourn the passing of the late first lady.
