Sadio Mane broke his silence on links to Bayern Munich after netting the goal which kept Liverpool within touching distance of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
Mane has been at the centre of speculation this week after Sky Germany claimed his agent met with Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic over the weekend. But he didn’t let the reports affect him as he scored the winner in the 2-1 victory at Aston Villa on Tuesday (May 10).
Naturally, the topic of his future at the club cropped up in the post-match interview. Asked by Sky Sports if he had ever been happier at Liverpool, he joked: “Yeah, sure, when we won the trophies I think I was more happy.
“But I think I just try to enjoy every moment and try to score and assist for my team mates. I think it is all about the team or nothing, the boys make it easier for me so I am obviously very happy.”
Mane’s contract with the Reds has just over a year left on it but they are yet to open talks with him about a new deal, despite doing so with Mohamed Salah who is in the same boat.
