Recruitment Into Security Services: We Won’t Sell Forms – Interior Minister Clarifies

The various security organizations will post adverts to the public, but potential recruits won’t be forced to purchase forms, according to Interior Minister, Henry Quartey.

Speaking on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ morning show, the minister clarified that the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s resurgence in Ukraine had caused significant economic hardship for the populace.

Because of this, the Interior Ministry and the security services have decided that while applications will be available, they will not be made available to the general public.

Recruitment Into Security Services: We Won’t Sell Forms – Interior Minister Clarifies

He said, “We have not started the recruitment process. There is indication and as the Interior Minister, I won’t lie. There will be recruitment, which is a fact. But the agencies have not advertised. The clarity in this matter is that, yes, they will advertise but we will not sell forms.”

The legislator from Ayawaso Central claims that thousands of applicants have purchased recruiting forms throughout the years, but only a small number of them receive calls from the various security services.

The minister claims that this gives the appearance of mistrust to those who are interested in being recruited.

“Due to the financial distress imposed on us by the Russian and Ukraine war, and Covid-19, the most available outlet everyone thinks they could go into is recruitment. Usually the members are huge and some persons have always been purchasing forms anytime it is opened up for sales. It poses a great deal of challenges for families who are not able to raise the funds to purchase the forms. If we don’t take care, we will be disenfranchising a lot of people who have what it takes to be recruited into the security force,” he said.
