Ghanaian actor and friend to John Dumelo James Gardiner comforts him after losing to Lydia Alhassan in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
Dumelo lost to the incumbent MP, Lydia Alhassan (Maa Lydia) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dumelo, standing on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) faced off with the incumbent MP Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The actor polled 37,778 votes against Alhassan’s 39,851 meaning he lost by a little over two thousand votes.
However, Gardiner who supported Dumelo prior to the election on Monday, December 7, 2020, has showered praises on his colleague actor for putting up a good fight.
In an Instagram post on James’ page, he praised Dumelo despite losing to Maa Lydia due to the fact that this was his first time but the competition was very tight.
He also added that John shouldn’t see himself as a loser because he fought a good fight and he has made history with the numbers he was able to pull at Ayawaso West which has been one of NPP’s strongrooms since 1996.
