Dr. Eric Nkansah has been named as the new Director-General of the Ghana Education Service by President Akufo-Addo (GES).
He headed the ministry’s tertiary division and served as the technical advisor to the minister of education.
This was stated in a letter from the Presidency dated Monday, October 17, and signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Secretary to the President.
“I am pleased to inform you that the resident has appointed you to act as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (the Service) pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the Governing Council of the Service, given in consultation with the Public Service Commission,” a portion of the letter read.
Dr. Eric Nkansah has fourteen days to either accept or reject his appointment as the new GES Director-General.
Over the past 13 years, Dr. Eric Nkansah has devotedly worked as a banker, professor, researcher, and financial consultant. He was a Senior Lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University’s Department of Banking Technology and Finance.
He joined the university in 2012 and has since made a substantial contribution to its growth (in the areas of teaching, research, program creation, etc.). He worked as the Sales Manager at the Krofrom Branch of Barclays Bank of Ghana (now Absa) for more than five years before attending the university.
He received his B.A. (Hons) in Economics from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana and his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of Zululand in South Africa (2015–2018). He also holds an MBA in Finance from KNUST Business School in Ghana (2008–2010).
