Oprah Winfrey Donates $10 million to help fight coronavirus

Movie Actress and Philanthropist Oprah Gail Winfrey has donated $10 million to fight the deadly coronavirus pandemic as it is gradually taking over the world by storm killing millions of innocent people.

The 66-year-old television mogul in an Instagram post wrote that, she was struck by the work of these oraganizations are doing and while everyone’s priority right now is to stay safer at home, she knew there are many ways in which some of them could help.

“I am donating $10 million overall to help Americans during this pandemic in cities across the country in areas where I grew up”. She stated.

According to her, part of the donation which happens to $ 1 million will go to the new initiative called American Food Fund, in her aid to help feed local communities. The fund, which was launched on Thursday, is a joint effort by activist and chef José Andrés, who founded World Central Kitchen; Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot; actor Leonardo DiCaprio; fellow billionaire Laurene Powell Jobs; and Apple.

It will help feed those most impacted by the coronavirus epidemic in America, including children who rely on school lunch programs, low-income families, the elderly, and individuals facing job disruptions.

The ‘SELMA’ movie actress last month launched a weekly series on Apple’s new streaming service, Apple TV+, called Oprah Talks COVID-19, in which she spoke over video platforms with spiritual leaders and others about how to get through the crisis.

The television star ended her popular television talk show in 2011 after 25 years. Later signed a mouth-watering deal with Apple in 2018.
