
Omane Boamah lands big appoint in NDC ahead of 2024 polls
Prior to the important elections of 2024, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chosen Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, a former minister of communications, as its director of elections and IT.
The NDC’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, signed a press statement announcing the appointment on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
The press release also includes a list of further new hires made by the party before to the key general elections in 2024.
Analyst for health policy planning and funding, Dr. Omane Boamah is a physician. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who has held the role since 2019, is replaced by him.

The NDC’s flagbearer and former president John Dramani Mahama’s spokesperson was Dr. Omane Boamah.
Additionally, he held the position of Vice Chairman for the Geneva-based United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD).
He graduated from the University of Ghana Medical School, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the London School of Economics (LSE).
He played key roles in the NDC’s triumph in the 2008 elections and served as the NDC’s deputy campaign coordinator for the 2012 presidential and legislative elections.
The NDC’s other new appointments include:
- Professor Joshua Alabi – Vice Chairman
- Dr. Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman
- Abdul Rauf Khalid – Vice Chairman
- Godwin Kudzo Tameklo – Director of Legal Affairs
- Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor – Director of Inter-Party/CSO Relations
The NDC has declared the upcoming 2024 elections as a “do-or-die affair” and is putting all its resources in place to win.
